it was a dark & stormy night...

actually
surprisingly
it was not
well it was dark
but that's just the nature of night
(didn't know you were getting a science lesson today did you?)
trick or treating was too fun
(thanks for coming with us grammy!)
this house does a crazy garage display every year...
cool & scary...

our little race car man

things you can't see in this picture:
-costume...excuse me, UNIFORM has been worn every day since it was purchased 10 days before
-uniform has three big rips at the seams & one hole in the leg
from that constant love...
things you can see:
-hair slicked back to show how fast he drives his race car
-super happy boy

& race car man's sister
ah yes
race car man's sister...
originally she was to be a bee...
& you can see how well that went...

every time i would come near her with the costume she would yell
'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO'
on halloween i just decided i would wrestle her into it
& see if i could distract her enough that she would forget
she was wearing it...
what that got us:
blown out eardrums for me
some candy for her
& a new costume...
valley girl circa 1984

(we trick or treated at great grandma's house...
thanks great grandma!)
notice the vans?
the leggings?
the turned up collar?
the high side pony tail?
oh how i loved putting this together...
then as we left to go trick ot treating
it was a little cold
so we got her a coat
then a hat
then she grabbed her stroller as we left
& magically transformed into
little mommy
which is the most accurate costume for her anyway...

so in all
this little sweetie had three
THREE!
costumes...
can you imagine how the first day of middle school, will be?
lord help us all
:)

halloween utterings from a three year old:
'Q what were the other kids in your class dressed up like?'
'spider man, two buzz light years & an injured turtle'
(that's a pretty specific costume, buddy)

while we were standing at the corner
waiting to cross the street
& a big group of kids walked by
'really great costumes guys! really great!'
(third grade teacher in the making...)

as we left a house
that had a little fountain near the door
'hey mom that fountain sounds like someone is peeing!'
(i'm sure that is just the effect they were going for...)

hope you all had fun!
:)

ps thanks for the costume suggestions...
i ended up going as a tired mom of two
with broken glasses
two years in a row!
:)

I LOVE the costumes...I also love the Q comments! M is going to be just like you em...she will refuse to do like all the others preferring to just be her unique self!

I went as a black banker cat, ears and tail attached to work suit!

how adorable! Q looks awesome!
I think "tired mother" might be marketable! You could make money selling that one!
My B had the chicken pox so we stayed in and went to a neighbor's house (he had had them as a kid)and gratefully, the kids had a blast anyways!

Can you start having "senior moments" when you are 32? I swear I posted a comment and, lo and behold, it is not anywhere to be found.

Nonetheless I just wanted to comment on the cuteness of your kids. I love the race car driver costume and if only I could flouncy skirt and legging, I think my life would be that much better.

So fun!
Good job mom, letting the kids be themselves and making it fun. I had to bribe O into wearing his costume. I told him kids that wear costumes get candy. Voila!
Didn't go trick-or-treating this year. Will wait til they ask. But it was fun to take them to see people with costumes on. Will post pics on my blog. Love you friend. Miss you so much too!

injured turtle = ninja turtle???

This was great. But I surely wish you'd've (yes, that was intentional) posted your outfit. It sounds adorable. :)

Oh my Lord, I just laughed out loud for 5 minutes! Q is too funny in his costume...I tortured Vivi (as I view it, it's a rite of passage) by putting her in a PEACOCK costume. I saw her on her daycare parade through the school and she was totally smashed in her stroller with the hood hanging over her eyes and her crying. After everyone told me that it was terrible, I picked her up after daycare, threw that $38 costume back on her body, and paraded her again, da**it!!She was going to wear that costume and LIKE IT. >:) I'd post a pic of it if I knew how....I guess her mom's the one who's as "proud as a peacock!" Em, you're funny.
